PRACTITIONERS

Osteopathy services are offered at our two clinics in downtown Toronto, both accessible through the PATH. Our osteopaths have significant training and have engaged in extensive post graduate courses to be able to provide the most comprehensive treatment plans possible.

Osteopathy manual practitioners utilize non-invasive manual therapies which focus on achieving total body health/mobility by rehabilitating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework. This includes the joints, muscles and spine in addition to the body’s nervous, lymphatic and circulatory systems.

What is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner?

With their extensive training in manual osteopathic practice these practitioners can assess and treat patients utilizing gentle manual techniques. They treat, not by concentrating on the problem area, but by using manual techniques to synchronize balance in all systems of the body to provide optimal health and well being. This leads to greater overall mobility, reduced pain and helps promote the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

What do our Manual Osteopaths treat?

Our osteopathic manual therapists treat a variety of conditions affecting the respiratory, circulatory, musculoskeletal, nervous systems, including:

  • Back injuries
  • Neck injuries
  • Chronic pain
  • Tension or stress-related problems including headaches or migraines
  • Ligament or muscle sprains due to overuse or sports
  • Peripheral injuries like shoulder pain, knee pain and ankle pain
  • Many more

Our osteopathic manual practitioners encourage you to become an active participant in your recovery plan. We work closely with you to improve your ability to move as you recover from illness, disease, injury or long periods of inactivity.

Osteopathic manual practitioners use a broad range of gentle, hands-on techniques including:

  • Soft tissue stretching
  • Muscle energy techniques
  • Deep tactile pressure
  • Mobilization or manipulation of joints
  • Ligament balancing techniques
  • Cranial therapy
  • Exercise for strength and conditioning
  • Dry needling
  • Sports taping

In addition, Manual Osteopath’s can complement other forms of therapy including physiotherapy, chiropractic care and acupuncture by speeding up the recovery process and preventing future re-injury.

What are the Benefits of Seeing a Manual Osteopath

Osteopaths at Integra Health Centre take a holistic approach to treating the entire body including joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This approach distinguishes osteopathy from other disciplines. Manual Osteopaths understand the interconnected nature of the human body and aim to treat the cause of your condition. This approach extends the benefits of osteopathic treatment beyond initial symptom relief and helps to prevent or reduce recurring conditions. Osteopathy is known to positively affect the circulatory, nervous and lymphatic systems.  While treatment outcomes do vary, people often experience noticeable improvement to their movement, mobility, and overall health and well-being.
