Elizabeth Marques (Psychotherapy Intern)
Elizabeth (Liz) Marques is a Psychotherapy Practicum Student with Integra Health Centre.
Elizabeth completed a Bachelor of Arts from York University, and began working in the insurance field and eventually established a career as a disability case manager, focusing on complex mental health cases.
After several years in the disability management field and listening to clients’ stories about struggles with mental health, Elizabeth decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Elizabeth firmly believes in the philosophy of individuals seeking therapeutic connections to feel heard, find significance in dilemmas, and discover ways to cope. Counselling aims to deliver support to individuals grappling with challenges. Founding and sustaining a robust therapeutic relationship is a fundamental value in Elizabeth’s approach.
A counselling setting is a safe and non-judgmental place. By listening to a client’s story, Elizabeth will understand how to best support her clients’ needs. Hers is a flexible approach, and any changes to the therapeutic course of action are a part of the process.
Outside of Integra Health Centre, Elizabeth volunteers as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Townsend Smith Foundation, whose goal is to establish a hospice in the North Halton region. She enjoys spending time with her family: her spouse and two teenaged children. Elizabeth also values the benefits of physical activity and keeping strong relationships with friends.
