When faced with overwhelming stress, it is not uncommon to have feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, sadness, panic or significant discomfort. Annie can be a source of support and guidance for those who are having difficulty or struggling with issues of self-esteem, confidence, anxiety, depression, post-partum, lifestyle changes, social isolation and various other issues that one may experience during their lifetime.

Annie is a registered Social Worker and Psychotherapy practitioner with Integra health. After receiving her Bachelor of Social work from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Annie supported children and families improve family dynamics through group and individual education and counselling before completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Over the course of her degree, Annie continued her to pursue her passion of supporting families in her role as a family therapist and child and family centered advocate at The Hospital for Sick Children here in Toronto.

Annie provides confidential, talk-therapy to children, youth, adults and families in a safe and comfortable environment where clients are supported to develop healthy perceptions of themselves, strengthen relationships, and uncover personal barriers to restore a sense of peace. Annie combines a relational approach and methods of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Anti-Oppressive practice to support clients from diverse backgrounds to address personal obstacles and regain a sense of clarity, direction, and personal empowerment.

The therapeutic relationship is one of partnership. Annie will work with you to alleviate concerns, fears and that you are experiencing and assist you in developing tools to address future obstacles. Annie strives to ensure that all people who decide to speak with her feel like they are being heard, and that they are in a safe and secure environment to voice their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

Annie believes that every person will need support, at some time, in some way through the course of their lives. In her practice, she strives to help individuals to recognize the strength of their own stories while creating a safe space to reflect, work through and overcome the challenges that life brings. Annie’s practice reflects the foundational value of social justice and the inherent worth and dignity of all persons.

Annie considers life a continuous learning process where, with each passing day, we learn more about what we need in order to be the healthiest and happiest versions of our self.
