Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that promotes and accelerates the recovery of injured tissue and is used to treat and relieve the pain associated with soft tissue conditions such as tendonitis and heelspurs. An acoustic pusle is transmitted into the affected bone or soft tissue, reinjuring the area on a cellular level. The controlled reinjuring of tissue stimulates the body’s natural healing process resulting in faster healing and reduced pain. It is often used in conjunction with physiotherapy, massage therapy or chiropractic treatments and offered as an alternative to surgery.
Shockwave can help treat conditions such as:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendinopathy
- Tennis Elbow
- Jumpers Knee
- Rotator Cuff Tendonitis
A referral for shockwave is not required, and same day appointments are available. If your insurance provider requires a referral, one of our physicians at Integra Health Centre can help provide this. Please ensure you inform our receptionists if this is needed before your visit.
