Visit our downtown Toronto clinics to see our experienced Naturopathic Doctor who will guide you along an alternative approach to health & wellness. Our Naturopath has significant training and knowledge to assess, diagnose and treat your health complaints using an integrative approach.
Through the use of therapeutic treatments including acupuncture, herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), nutrition, basic lifestyle counseling and education with their patients they are able to affect positive changes through all aspects of your life.
The practice of Naturopathic Medicine begins with the assessment of the physical and mental condition of an individual, including the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases, disorders and dysfunctions. Naturopathy enhances health through education, common diagnostic procedures and the integrated use of therapies promoting an individual’s inherent self-healing processes.
Naturopathic doctors provide primary and adjunctive health care to people of all ages with a wide spectrum of health concerns with a focus on the scientific use of natural therapies to support and stimulate healing. Our naturopath has a specific added area of training and expertise in fertility and women’s health. Naturopathic therapies are selected to treat the individual’s presenting condition, taking into consideration their particular symptoms and overall health status and our Naturopaths work very closely with our medical team and other regulated practitioners in the office to offer a collaborative approach.
As primary care providers, Naturopathic doctors work with their patients and educate them to take responsibility for their own health.
What Services Do Naturopathic Doctors Offer?
The body of knowledge that underlies treatment modalities used in modern Naturopathic medical practice incorporates both ancient knowledge, conventional medical knowledge, and the latest advances in medical science.
Some of the modalities utilized by the Naturopaths at Integra Health Centre include:
Counselling Techniques: An important principle of Naturopathic medicine is that emotional health and physical health are interdependent. Naturopathic practice includes the integrated use of counseling techniques along with such methods as stress and lifestyle management as indicated.
Clinical Nutrition: The relationship between nutrition and wellness, or between inadequate nutrition and disease, is well documented and is a cornerstone of Naturopathic practice.
Botanical Medicine: Plant substances have been used safely and effectively for centuries in the prevention and treatment of disease. Botanical medicines have pharmacological properties that necessitate their use by appropriately trained health care providers.
Lifestyle Modification: Environment and lifestyle have a significant impact on health. Simple things like getting adequate sleep and exercise can have an important impact on health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture: TCM and acupuncture comprise a system that has been in use for over 5,000 years for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This system employs unique methods for evaluating the flow and balance of energy in the body and includes the specialized use of Chinese herbs and acupuncture. Naturopathic doctors are trained to use this system when indicated as part of an integrated approach in combination with Western diagnostic methods to achieve care goals.
